Call Center
Avaya delivers improved overall call center performance by helping agents handle calls more effectively with the proven and innovative call routing and resource selection capabilities in Avaya Call Center. Component price varies depending on configurations.

Enterprise Survivable Server (ESS)
The Avaya Enterprise Survivable Server (ESS) solution allows a business that is using an Avaya Communication Manager driven solution to have greater flexibility of consolidation by providing new survivability options. The ESS solution allows a customer to place ESS (backup) servers at key locations throughout their enterprise. An ESS server is capable of taking over for the entire enterprise or, if needed, just a portion of the enterprise in the event that some type of outage has occurred.

Local Survivable Processor (LSP)
The Avaya Local Survivable Processor (LSP) is a backup server for branch office locations served by Avaya Communication Manager.  The LSP server option integrates with the Avaya branch gateways - the G250, G350, G450 or G700 - to deliver full featured IP telephony survivability to branches in the event of WAN failures.

Computer Telephony - CTI
Avaya Computer Telephony is the CTI server software that integrates voice and data between the customer's Communication Manager Server and their business application environment on a Windows server.

Extension to Cellular - EC 500
The powerful Avaya Extension to Cellular feature of Avaya Communication Manager can connect callers to employees wherever they are - with just one call. Extension to Cellular transparently bridges calls received by an Avaya Communications Server to any digital cell phone; regardless of location or wireless service provider. It can be activated or deactivated simply by pressing a feature button on an Avaya desktop phone. Several Avaya Communication Manager station features are now available to digital cell phone users. They can transfer calls, conference in others parties and place and answer calls on multiple lines; improving productivity while outside of the office.

IP Softphone
The IP Softphone makes it easy to place and receive phone calls from your laptop or PC through its simple Graphical User Interface (GUI) and integration with Microsoft Outlook contact lists and other directories.

Converged Communications
Using Internet Protocol (IP) with Communication Manager enables a natural migration path from today's separate data and voice networks to a converged network environment. Communication Manager is designed to provide interconnection of both traditional analog, digital, and IP communication devices in a single communications environment. Enterprises are given maximum flexibility to implement convergence-Communication Manager even allows separation over circuit switched networks and signaling (call control) over IP networks at multiple levels:
·         Between servers and communication devices
·         Between servers and port networks
Enterprise-Wide Communication Features
Communication Manager allows customers to centralize call processing and administration onto powerful servers, while at the same time extending the full breadth of applications to survivable gateways in campus environments or remote branch office locations. New distance insensitive applications like Avaya IP Softphone and Avaya IP Agent, bring the power of Communication Manager features to users whether in the office or working remotely.

Wide-Ranging Protocol Support and Single Point of Administration
Communication Manager replaces networks of multiple switches with a centrally administered server that controls a network of gateways or port networks, all managed as a single system.  Zero administration of remote site gateways as all configurations are administered once at the central site and flow out to the remote locations. This minimizes support costs and eliminates problems associated with having to administer changes in multiple places.

Highly Scalable
As businesses grow, Communication Manager has the ability to grow without needing to change an entire system. A single S8720 or S8730 Server running Avaya Communication Manager is capable of growing to 36,000 stations and 12,000 trunks. A private network of many servers can be designed to scale over a million extensions using 13 digit dialing and QSIG.

Business Continuity
Communication Manager powered solutions can achieve up to 99.999% reliability through the use of duplicated servers interfaces and network links. The Avaya Enterprise Survivable Server solution allows business the flexibility of consolidation by providing increased survivability options. In addition, a variety of new enhancements like Dial plan Transparency, Inter-Gateway Alternate Routing (IGAR), Locally Sourced Announcements & Music, Auto Fallback to Primary for ESS and H.248 Gateways, Modem Dial-up on the G250, G350, G450 and IG550 media gateways, Standard Local Survivability on the G250, G350, G450 and IG550 media gateways and Connection Preserving Failover/Failback for all H.248 Media Gateways can be used to preserve the user experience for the customers at the branch office and also to provide uninterrupted communication service.

The combination of new Communication Manager features with G250, G350, G450 Media Gateway enhancements, new IG550 Integrated Gateway for Juniper J-Series routers, and new high-capacity DCP media module for the G250/G350/G450 media gateways provide a very compelling offering for the growing distributed branch office market. LSP capacity now matches H.248 media gateway capacity, which means branch office deployments, can now be fully deployed with LSP support. To support this increased capacity, a new LSP translation synchronization feature improves bandwidth utilization for file updates.

Global Availability and Multinational Support
Avaya is global with an extensive reach anywhere in the world. With Avaya, our customers can have a single vendor solution, from Singapore to Paris, Chicago to Brazil, and all points in-between. Communication Manager is a global application offering; it is the same application in the United States and throughout the world.

Communication Manager supports multiple digital trunk interfaces including E1, T1, PRI, BRI and multiple analog interfaces. Unicode support provides end users with a communications interface in their own native language via static and dynamic display text (e.g. Caller ID) on Unicode-enabled endpoints. New Multinational location capability combines with Unicode support to create stronger, more cost-effective solutions for the international market. Multinational location capability allows Communication Manager to support stations, port networks, remote offices, and gateways located in multiple countries using a single media server. Parameters that typically vary by country can be specified for each country/location to enable support of features across national borders. This delivers cost savings by eliminating the need to maintain separate switches in each country, provides feature transparency to users, and simplifies management by centralizing administration.

In addition, new enhanced business telephony features in Communication Manager 4.0 and 5.0 enable many global customers to more seamlessly migrate their solutions to Communication Manager without losing any of their existing telephony features after migration.

Security
Avaya has built in a variety of security features into Communication Manager running on Linux operating system to assist in the prevention of attack. Administrative logins to Communication Manager can be protected using Access Security Gateway (ASG) embedded security software. Using a Data Encryption Standard (DES)-based encryption algorithm, ASG provides session-based challenge and response technology to secure access to the system administration and maintenance ports and/or logins on Communication Manager.

Communication Manager media encryption provides a secure solution for environments where enhanced voice privacy over a LAN/WAN is required. The communication device uses the 104-bit Avaya Encryption Algorithm or the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) to encrypt voice packets. AES is a new cryptographic algorithm adopted by the U. S. Government to protect unclassified information. In addition, the signaling channel between the Media Server (media gateway controller) and H.248 Media Gateways are also encrypted .

Supports Accessibility for the Sensory Impaired (Section 508 Compliance)
Avaya Universal Access Phone Status assists visually impaired users manage voice communications. For instance, the application can announce an incoming caller via the PC speakers through text-to-speech conversion. Universal Access Phone Status is available at no extra cost and helps answer Section 508 access requirements for visually impaired VoIP endpoint users.

The Avaya TTY-on-IP solution permits voice and TTY to be mixed on the same call. This feature enables Avaya to comply with Titles II, III, and IV of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, Sections 251 and 255 of the Telecommunications Act of 1996, and Section 508 of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 for a pure IP solution.

SIP Trunking
Avaya continues to leverage carrier networks and enables SIP trunk termination directly to Communication Manager, leveraging the built-in SIP Back to Back User agent function.  This allows for a substantial reduction in hardware requirements compared to multiple DS0 or DS1 interfaces.  Avaya continues to expand the capabilities of SIP trunking and has added User to User Information (UUI) and Network Call Redirection (NCR) to better leverage SIP trunks in Contact Center environments.

Simplified Pricing
Avaya continues to offer rich functionality and applications but now through simplified software packages, making it easier to price, configure and order Communication Manager based solutions. Pricing for Communication Manager is more competitive than before in many cases, particularly for entry-level systems and branch offices.

Software Maintenance
Effective with Communication Manager 5.0, Avaya has unbundled software and hardware maintenance support.  This will ultimately provide enterprises great flexibility in how they maintain the components of their IP telephony networks.
